Region 43 runs our U6 (Under 6) division as a “jamboree”. This means that the kids show up for a regular slot each Saturday. The Saturday activity is a mix of skill development activities and scrimmages. The kids are assigned to teams that will practice and play together each Saturday, working with the same coaches each week.
The parent coaches are trained by youth soccer coaches from World Cup Soccer Camps. They train the parents how to run drills and scrimmages each week, and are available on the field to provide assistance. Cones and portable goals are setup on fields to give each team a small field for a 3-on-3 scrimmage experience.
Our experience has been that this is tremendous fun for the young kids and a much more positive experience for most everyone when compared to a “league” in which teams compete against each other in matches each week.
