Fields Instructions

Coaches and parents: please read carefully to ensure a safe and fun day of soccer for the kids and a pleasant experience for everyone.

General Information (All fields)

Kids Zone

Please remind all present that our soccer fields are an AYSO Kids Zone which means that:

Kids are #1.
Fun — not winning — is everything. Fans only cheer, and only coaches coach.
No yelling in anger.
Respect the volunteer referees.
No swearing. No smoking. Leave no trash behind.
Set a proper example for our children.

(Parents are encouraged to sign the Kids Zone Parent Pledge)

Important note regarding the respect of referees: we have a zero tolerance policy for adults not respecting Youth referees (they will be asked to leave the field and banned from future games). People who tend to be vocal against referees are highly encouraged to take the referee training next year! Any comment or question should be directed to rra@ayso43.org.

Field Equipment

  • If you see UP in the Nets column of your game schedule your team is in charge of taking the goals and corner flags out.
  • If you see DOWN in the Nets column of your game schedule your team is in charge of putting the equipment away and at the proper location.
  • The lock combo is the same for goal locks and field boxes.
  • After taking the goals out please lock the cable by itself so that the lock doesn’t disappear during the games.
  • Goals are light and must be carried rather than dragged!
  • Make sure than kids don’t hang from or climb on the nets
  • Teams are responsible for minor net repairs during the season. There are extra tie wraps in the field boxes.
  • Ask everyone to leave the field as clean or cleaner than you found it!
  • Missing or broken equipment? Please report it a.s.a.p. to rra@ayso43.org and equip@ayso43.org
  • Field lining or safety issue? Please report is a.s.a.p. to fields@ayso43.org and safety@ayso43.org

Rosita mini-fields (U7, U8 games)

Each team plays on 2 side by side mini-fields so that all players can play the entire time. See picture.

  • U7B games are on the 2 fields closest to the parking lot (Field 1 A/B)
  • U8B games are on the 2 fields behing those (Field 2 A/B)
  • U8G games are on the farthest fields, on the left (Field 3 A/B)
  • U7/U8 use the same 4′ goals (no goal keeper!), they have 2 anchors attached to the net in the back.
  • All goals go back to the same location against the fence stacked up together in 2 piles and locked with the long cable.

Please use your own red cones to mark corners instead of 5′ corner flags from the field box (Those flags are for the U16/U19 games). Portable toilets are available behind the baseball diamond.

Egan Patch (U10G games)

See picture.

  • Use the corner flags marked AYSO from the field box, not the bigger ones from MVLA
  • Goals must be anchored to stakes in the ground (use safety chains in the back)
  • Spectators can stay on the same side of the field since the school side is narrow, but nobody should stay beyond the penalty area.
  • People making coaching comments should stay within 10 yards of the halfway line.
  • Goals must be locked near the container after the last game, together and mouth against the fence.

Portable toilets are available near the baseball diamond.

Almond (U10B games)

The marking for the 2 U10 fields can be confusing because a larger field is lined for Sunday’s games. Almond 1 is the field closest to El Monte, Almond 2 is the field closest to the baseball diamond.

  • Goals must be anchored to stakes in the ground (use safety chains in the back)
  • People making coaching comments should stay within 10 yards of the halfway line.
  • No spectators are allowed beyond the penalty area or behind the goals (except silent photographers)
  • Goals must be locked after the last game, 1 pair on each side of the field, together and mouth against the fence.
  • Do not use the large 8″ goals (unless you are U14 and above)
  • Los Altos police will stop to give tickets to cars parked illegaly on El Monte near the cross-walk!

Portable toilets are available on the U9B side.

Santa Rita (U12G and U12B games)

The upper field (Field 2) is usually U12B games, the lower field (Field 1) is for U12G games, see picture.

  • Goals must be anchored to the stakes in the ground (use safety chains in the back)
  • Please use the corner flags marked AYSO from the field box, not the unmarked ones from MVLA
  • People making coaching comments should stay within 10 yards of the halfway line.
  • No spectators are allowed beyond the penalty area or behind the goals (except silent photographers)
  • Goals must be locked in pair mouth against the fence after the last game at the location where the cable was left (around middle of each fied)
  • The big 8″ goals near the upper field are not for AYSO use.

Portable toilets are available in the back of the school, on the north side.

Egan track field (U14 games)

See picture.

  • Large 8′ goals have wheels that can flip down to roll into place, then the wheels must be flipped up to keep the goals steady on the goal line.
  • After the last game the home team must roll the goals back together behind the pine tree on the end near the baseball diamond.
  • Current wheels are in bad condition, some without tires. Please move the goals will precaution and get enough helpers.
  • Please use the corner flags marked AYSO from the field box (under the tree), not the unmarked ones from MVLA (the field box is behing the big tree on the left when you arrive)
  • People making coaching comments should stay within 10 yards of the halfway line.
  • No spectators are allowed beyond the penalty area or behind the goals (except silent photographers)

Portable toilets are available near the baseball diamond.

  • The 8′ goals are anchored permanently during the season and nets stay on.
  • People making coaching comments should stay within 10 yards of the halfway line.
