The game card record is used to (a) record the vital stats of the game (goals by which team), (b) capture the substitution and goal keeper record (for verifying "everyone plays"), and (c) capture the goals by jersey number so more balanced teams can be formed in the future and rules about blow-outs can be enforced. So it is important to capture the game record such as substitutes/injury/absence out each quarter.
Region 43 is automating the processing of game cards this year using webyouthsoccer. Sunnyvale Region 44 has been doing this very successfully for many years now. Palo Alto Region 26, Menlo Park Region 109, and others are all adopting this technique this year as well.
This has been working extremely well across the divisions except for U14. The main reason is U14 is playing inter-regional with the only two regions not using webyouthsoccer: Region 25 Woodside and Region 1149 Ravenswood. As a result, these regions team rosters are not in the system and you have to get rosters on game cards from the coaches of these teams before the game as normal. Correspondingly, it is a problem for us when our teams play at their fields in that the game cards are not entered into webyouthsoccer for our needs by their referees. As a result, we have made an agreement with these other regions as follows:
Game cards (or facsimiles thereof) for out-of-region teams (in U14 games) will be sent to the home region referee team for further processing.
It is still important to capture the game record for these out of region teams as they just process the cards manually like we used to.
When play involves teams from these regions, we need the final scores in webyouthsoccer for calculating statistics and tournament play standings. But you do not have to enter the game card details for these regions in webyouthsoccer. Instead, forward a facsimile of the card to Randy Harr, Asst RRA, for forwarding back to the appropriate region. Make sure to enter any home (Region 43) game card fully in webyouthsoccer.
See http://ayso43.org/Referees/Lineup%20Card%20Procedures.pdf for more details on how to fill out and enter game cards properly.
