The season is fast approaching and many of you have started preparing --
thank you!

The region is still recruiting coaches and assigning them to teams so
team formation has not been finalized.  Check the region website and
webyouthsoccer (http://ayso43.org/) daily for the latest news.

As always, we will need more refs in all divisions and will get a number
of conscripted volunteers once teams are formed (U12, U10 and U8 teams
must all supply at least one referee).  Avoid this rush and get prepared
early!

Make sure to enter your referee preferences as soon as possible but no
later than a few days after team formation is done.  Key especially is
to let us know what age division(s) you plan to ref.  You can enter this
information now independent of team formation.

The Referee Training page has been updated
(http://www.ayso43.org/Referees/RefereeTraining.htm).
Key highlights of updates are:

a) The Pre-season Tourney planned for August 30th will not happen due to
team formation still in progress.  Referee assignments will start with
the season opening games on 6 September.

b) The Regional Guidelines have been updated and include new, important
rules on balanced team sizes at game time; as well as an expanded
section on small-sided game rules for U12, U10 and U8.  PLEASE READ THIS
DOCUMENT.

c) Palo Alto Region 26 has added an Area/Intermediate AND
Section/Advance course in early September for those still wishing to
upgrade!

d) We have expanded our referee equipment program to offer hats, flip
coins and other materials for advanced referees who upgrade.  We have
expanded our stock of women's jerseys and now have an equipment
management and distribution team ready to help get you outfitted.  U8
Officials will now receive custom yellow T-Shirts instead of full
uniforms.

e) The Pizza ref sessions have been merged in with Region 45 and will
occur at Milan Pizza on Wednesdays during the season

A reminder that we hope to see most of you at the Region orientation
meeting on 24th August, 6PM, Los Altos Library Program Room, San Antonio
Road.  Refreshments will be served.
