[A] Lineup / Game Card Fillout and Entry into webyouthsoccer

We had a number of errors in webyouthsoccer game cards.  Either the original hand written cards or their entry into webyouthsoccer did not accurately capture the record of what happened at the game.  To assist you further, we put together a short tutorial at http://ayso43.org/Referees/Lineup%20Card%20Procedures.pdf.

Your primary responsibility is your presence at the field to help assure a safe, fair and fun environment.  But the game cards are the next most important item and capture a record of what happened at a game.  Now that we are online, these records are more visible more quickly and so coaches, division coordinators, and your fellow referees will notice mistakes more quickly as they are reviewed each week.  More importantly, coaches are formerly warned when they have not followed the "everyone plays" policy -- your game card is the only record of whether this was followed or not.  Try and be as accurate and timely as possible during the game and with the electronic entry after the game to avoid issues later.

If you received a game card with hand marked jersey numbers, you can enter the jersey numbers when you enter the game card.  This will be reflected back in the team record and be there for future games; and assists those coaches that are not so webyouthsoccer literate.

[B] Referee Uniforms, Equipment and Patches

All the full referee uniforms and equipment are back at Randy's house. If you need something, make arrangements for pickup from him (by replying to this email).

Some referees at the 9/2-4/03 training session at Hillview did not receive their Regional Referee patch for their uniform.  If you do not have a patch, arrange to pick one up from Randy.

U8 uniforms (T-Shirts and whistles) are still available from Angela Meyer; usually at the U8 field at Rosita on Saturday.  She will have a current roster to check off if you are registered and trained.  Reach her at ameyer@exponent.com

[C] Scheduling and Fields

For the most part, training is over.  As a result, our roster is what it will be.  Although we grew the ranks this year, we need all U10 and above referees to try and perform two games a weekend as often as possible.  This actually helps you become a better referee by gaining more experience as it is.  Mark Kent, our referee assignor, will try and schedule you in back-to-back games.  Please try and accept assignments as he has many constraints to work with.

And many thanks to those referees that are doing 3 or more games every weekend!  We really appreciate it.  If you can do more than 2, let Mark Kent know via your preferences.

Most of this weeks schedule is in the system.  Please make sure to go in and accept your assignments where possible.

A reminder that the Santa Rita fields have been renamed.  Santa Rita #2 is now the upper field and used for U12Boys games.  Santa Rita #1 is now the lower field and used for U12Girls games.

Field boxes have cones (for U8 corners) and flags (for U10 and above). The coaches should take these out and put them away at the first and last game of the day; respectively.  A gentle reminder by you will help. The combination lock code on all boxes is xxxx.

If there is any continuing concern about equipment or field safety conditions, let us know immediately.

[D] Issues, concerns, mentoring

Please send Ray Cooper, Mark Kent or I an email with any issues or concerns you have -- whether it be about scheduling, the laws, or an incident at a game (no matter how minor).  If you would like a mentor assigned sooner, let us know that also.  We are here to help you become a better referee.

And remember the Wednesday pizza nights at Milan's Pizza (one was last night).  See our Referee Training page for more information and for a link to the schedule.

Thanks for your help and have a great season!
