Meet your 2007 Board of Parents -- it takes a real community!
| - Regional Commissioner in transition: With a unanimous vote at its final meeting of the calendar year 2007, the board nominated Alan Black to take over the reigns from Randy Harr on 1 June 2008. Randy served the board as RC for 4 years and made many strides forward as we continued to build on the initial restructuring of Vivien and Jane before. Alan now takes over and works to push the organization past the 1000 player mark on playable fields. | |
- Section Conference 2008: 6-9 March, 2008, Salt Lake City. Preliminary agenda. More information on registering in late November. |
|
- Golden Gate Camp: 1st - 3rd August 2008; St Mary's College, Moraga, CA. | |
| - National Annual General Meeting 2008: San Francisco Marriott, 23-26 May 2008 | |
| - Email archive and mailing list now available: Starting with the 2007 season, the board communications (and likely ref, coach and parent) will be handled through mail lists with online archives. See Email Archive for more information. | |
- eAYSO National Database: All volunteers must register with the National eAYSO database before they can be accepted into service of the region. This is independent of our registration in and use of Web Youth Soccer. Helpful tutorials are available. Do NOT register your kids in the National database! |

The Board of Parents generally meets once a month on the first Wednesday starting at 8:00PM at PostPath Conference Room, Suite 150, 1200 Villa Street, Mountain View, CA. Thanks to Daryl Odnert for the PostPath facility.
The meeting at the beginning of June is the annual meeting where new officers are inducted (elections are held at the meeting in May). The June meeting is generally a dinner meeting to thank the outgoing members and welcome the incoming parents. The board generally does not meet in December or January as the Volunteer Appreciation Party is roughly at the same time and we take a breather before starting preparations for the next Fall season.
Increasingly since 2003, the board has used an email list to communicate important messages and decisions to each other. To better serve the parent board and the community as a whole, as of the Fall 2007 season, we have moved this list to be an archived and public message board using Yahoo Groups as the underlying engine. You access the list through our server and can now automatically subscribe or unsubscribe to the communications via email to our server. To prevent SPAM'ers from broadcasting to the list, submissions to the list are limited to members and moderated by the Executive Board. Membership in the lists is open to anyone.
Similar lists have been setup for the coaches and referees (coach07@ayso43.org and ref07@ayso43.org; respectively, with similar archives and subscribe / unsubscribe techniques).
Note that you must unblock email from yahoogroups.com to receive messages from any of these lists. The list name will change each year to reduce unsolicited messages that the moderators have to process and throw-out. But list membership will transfer over automatically.
Any AYSO region is run by a board of parents and volunteers who then elect their regional commissioner and other key officers. The regional commissioner is an officer in the national AYSO organization and elects the officials from the local Area Director on up to the President and National Board; along with approving any rule changes in the organization. The National board must also approve the elected regional commissioner. It all starts here locally and is mostly focused on local operations. All the other positions are there to support the local regions. There is more information in our "About Us" page entitled the ABC's of AYSO
All board meetings, activities, and finances are open to the public as much as possible. Only privacy concerns for volunteer and child welfare override this. If you do not find what you are looking for on this website, inquire with the regional commissioner.
Started in 2004 to recognize that one volunteer on the board who goes beyond the the call of duty. Always providing an extra level of service and taking on more work and projects as they are identified and the need arises. Does the work of 3 to 5 volunteers when others back out or new issues arise.
2007 - Steve Brocksen for his 18 years of dedicated service that continues today with management of field permits, field lining, and coaching of our high school teams.
2007 - Kim Sheehan for her 10 years of helpful service in almost every role; most recently as assistant registrar, publicity, practice field scheduling, and game scheduling.
2006 - Laurent Delamare for his untiring work to build a referee organization, recruit parents, and follow through with each team and parent to achieve success in the role. For picking up other areas such as corner flags at all fields and scheduling when last minute changes saw the need
2005 - Steve Cutcomb for his MacGyver characteristic with goals and field equipment, helping us achieve 100% compliance on goal anchoring for the first time and change over to smaller, lighter safer goals for most of the younger age divisions
2004 - Patrick Murphy for his work as the new registrar and tackling the Web AYSO system to take us into the online, Internet age
The all volunteer, parent board is headed by an elected Regional Commissioner (RC). This RC is an officer in the National entity known as AYSO and runs the region as one of many departments there. As such, the RC carries much weight for not only the local organization but in shaping the national group. As such, we wish to recognize our past RC's and there senior staff here:
