Q. When can I register a player for the fall season? – back to top
Registration for the Fall 2013 season opens in mid-April, 2013. Registration remains open until each division is full or games begin in September. We receive 80% or more of our registrations by the end of May with some divisions filling by then. We strongly recommend that you register early to be better assured of placement on a team. While we strive to accept everyone, field space and coach volunteer limitations occasionally require us to turn away kids.

Region 43 uses an online Web based registration system hosted by WebYouthSoccer.com. Click the button at the top of this page to get started.
Q: What do I do with the forms that I printed at the end of registration? – back to top
Please, do not mail or fax player registration forms to us! The forms are not needed for your child to be placed on a team. Team coaches will collect original, signed versions of the forms when practices start. (The forms enable the coaches to obtain medical treatment for your child in the event of an emergency.) You may print fresh copies of your forms at any time by logging on to your WebYouthSoccer account and then clicking on the Forms Package menu item after you log on.
Q: How do I check that my player’s registration is complete? – back to top
Log on to your WebYouthSoccer account see your player’s status. If the player’s status is Registered, then we have received everything we need for your player and have processed his or her registration – although we may still need proof of age documentation for players new to Region 43. If the status is Pre-Reg, we are either missing something or your registration has not yet been processed by the Registrar. Please keep in mind that it may take several days after your payment is received for your registration to be processed by the Registrar. If you have concerns about your player’s status, please send a note to email@example.com and include the player’s name and date of birth.

New players to Region 43 may not participate in team practices or matches until the proof of age requirement is satisfied. We will enforce this rule. Please follow the instructions found here.
Q: I have used WebYouthSoccer.com before. Can I reuse my account name and password? – back to top
If you have used WebYouthSoccer.com in a region other than Region 43, then you must select a new username and password. A username at WebYouthSoccer.com can only be associated with a single region. In other words, you must have a username that is unique to all of WebYouthSoccer.com and that is uniquely associated with Region 43. Using your old username and player records will register you in your old region – your data will not be visible to us. If in doubt, email the Region 43 Registrar (firstname.lastname@example.org) with your first and last name and the username you think is attached to Region 43. He or she can check the database to confirm that your username is correct for our region.
Q. Can my child be placed on the same team as his/her sibling or friend? – back to top
Usually, yes as long as they are both eligible to play in the same age division. During the online registration process, on your child’s registration form, there is a box labeled “Sibling”. In this box, you may enter the name of one sibling or buddy that you wish to have on the same team. The sibling/buddy must put your child’s name in their “Sibling” box as well. The Division Coordinators will try to honor these requests when forming teams.
If you have completed pre-registration and need to add or update a sibling/buddy request, send email to the Registrar with the details of your request. Include your player’s name and date of birth in your email message.
Q. How do I request that my child be placed on a team with a specific coach? – back to top
Unfortunately, special requests for coach placement cannot be accepted. Please read here for a discussion of how teams are formed in our region.
Q. What about volunteer forms? – back to top
Volunteer forms are required for Coaches, Assistant Coaches, Referees, Division Coordinators, Board members and others who have significant contact with the players or player info. This form must be submitted each year. We require the volunteer form be completed on the AYSO National system – eAYSO.org. Once you have completely filled out the form there, print it and send the signed original to: CVPA, AYSO Region 43, PO Box 1303, Los Altos, CA 94023. A tutorial on how to create the form in the National database is available.

Note that Region 43 does not offer a U5 (age 4) division. Children born on or after February 1, 2009 cannot be accepted in U6 for the Fall 2013 season. Players may be permitted to “play up” in an older division in special circumstances. Contact the Divisions Commissioner to request a change in division placement after you have completed online registration.

The plan is to release teams to coaches and parents by early August. The parents should hear from the coaches soon after that time. Team rosters and coach info will also be available and online via the member login area at that same time. Parents are requested to contact their coach if they have not heard from them within that first week.

Q. How do I cancel my child’s registration and request a refund? – back to top
To cancel a registration and obtain a refund, please email the Registrar at email@example.com with your child’s name and date of birth.
A $25 drop/cancellation fee applies beginning July 16, 2013. If you drop/cancel your child’s registration beginning August 29, 2013, you will receive NO REFUND. Any drop made because your child was not placed on a team entitles you to a FULL REFUND.
Q. Where and When are the practices held? – back to top
Practice fields are generally the same as the game fields. Time, day of the week, and location is ultimately up to the coach. Due to a lack of field availability, most teams practice only 1 weekday afternoon/evening for 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Upper levels may practice twice early in the season to raise the level of training. Kindergarten (U6) league meets ONLY on Saturdays (no weekday practice) for a combined training/scrimmage session. We try to place your child on a team and with a coach that will hold practice other than the single day you specify you cannot practice.
Q. How do I help make sure AYSO soccer is a great experience for my kids? – back to top
Most importantly, make sure that your own behavior around the soccer field sets a positive example. Please read the Kids Zone Pledge for specific advice.
AYSO is a parent-run, volunteer organization. A “Board of Parents” meets monthly year round to plan and execute the 2 playing seasons. Many hands make the work lighter. These jobs are typically 1-2 season commitments. We always need help in these areas:
Q. How can I change my child’s team assignment? - back to top
The following answer applies to the U8 divisions and older.
A tenet of AYSO is Balanced Teams. The division coordinator goes to great pains, considering many factors, to create balanced teams. Average and mean age and grade; general skill of players; and school are “balanced” or spread as best as possible. Where possible, we try to honor the request for one sibling or friend to be on the same team. We also try to make sure at least one other player from your child’s school and grade is on the team. The coaches, board members, and other volunteers are bound by the same policies that govern everyone else in the Region. No exceptions.
Because of this, we normally cannot accept requests to change team assignments. However, if it is impossible for your child to play with the team to which he or she has been assigned (meaning your child cannot make any of the regular practices), we can take your child off that team and put him or her on the wait list. Just before the first games, we work to clear the wait list one more time by using team balancing as the number one criteria (and specifically not considering any sibling/friend requests or school buddies). The date of registration is the secondary criteria (the earlier you registered, the higher your priority on the wait list). If you move your player off a team and on to the wait list, you will take the chance that your player may not be assigned to any team at all, or may be assigned to a team where he or she does not know anyone. Given the difficulties of scheduling around two practices per week, we also cannot consider change requests based on a single practice conflict for teams that generally have two practices per week.
Q. What if my child is under developed or has a disability? – back to top
AYSO has a VIP program for those kids who have limitations making it difficult for them to participate with the majority of kids their age. Unfortunately, in our particular region, we do not have enough kids or a dedicated parent to run this program locally. Luckily our neighbors do. See Region 26 Palo Alto, Region 44 Sunnyvale, or Region 35 Cupertino for more information on their program. We would be glad to help get your child placed there or assist you in expanding the program to our local fields as well.
Q. Who runs the league? Who are the coaches and referees? – back to top
AYSO is an all-volunteer organization. The vast majority of the roles are filled by parents of the players, although anyone can volunteer to help. The positions we most desperately need filled are coaches, assistant coaches, and referees. No previous soccer experience is required. Q. For divisions that become full, who gets top priority for roster positions? – back to top
Players who complete their registration before the wait list period begins in late June are given priority on a first registered, first served basis. For players who complete their registration during our wait list period (late June or later), roster positions are allocated based on the needs of the player’s division.
